Cosmetic dental procedures

Veneers, teeth whitening, tooth colored fillings, dental implants...

Written by south Florida cosmetic dentist Dr. Jeffrey Lissauer, serving Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and Palm Beach

The field of dentistry is rapidly evolving with new technology and materials. Experienced cosmetic dentists are constantly attending courses and reviewing research to perfect their techniques. Over the years, the following procedures have drastically improved to truly make cosmetic dentistry an art:

Teeth Whitening

If your teeth are stained or discolored, teeth whitening has become extremely effective. Various products exist, but please consult with your cosmetic dentist to determine the product that will meet your needs.

Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are extremely thin pieces of porcelain bonded onto the front side of your teeth that are custom made to create the perfect shape, color, dimensions, and contour. Porcelain veneers are used to treat discolored teeth, gaps between teeth, chipped teeth, rotated teeth, black spaces between teeth, small teeth, and gummy smiles. As a cosmetic dental office in Boynton Beach, Lumineers are an extremely common type of veneer used in our practice.  Lumineers are a special type of veneer that are made even thinner , so minimal or even no tooth structure needs to be taken off the front side of a tooth.

Tooth colored fillings (also referred to as Tooth colored bondings)
Advancements in tooth colored fillings have truly changed the scope of dentistry. Now, tooth colored fillings can be shaped and polished to perfectly blend with natural teeth. Tooth colored fillings can even be used on all of your front teeth to create a new, radiant smile. Chipped teeth, short teeth, small teeth, discolored teeth, gaps between teeth, teeth with cavities, black spaces between teeth, and unsightly silver fillings can all be treated with tooth colored fillings.

Dental implants
A dental implant is essentially a titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone. On top of this screw, a nicely contoured and colored crown (also referred to as a “cap”) can be placed to replace the missing tooth. People will not be able to recognize that the tooth is not your own. Furthermore, several dental implants can be used to replace numerous missing teeth.

Orthodontics & Invisalign
Orthodontics and Invisalign use tooth movement to straighten teeth and create beautiful results and proper function.

In most situations, a cosmetic dentist uses a combination of these techniques to create an esthetic and radiant smile. Before you begin, the first step of your Smile Makeover is a comprehensive evaluation to create a simulated picture of the ideal end result, which is often called a Smile Design. About my experiences as a cosmetic dentist

While in college, I decided on a career in dentistry. At the time, working as a dentist seemed to be the perfect combination of art and science, two fields I always enjoyed. Twenty-five years later, I continue to love my profession. After attending and teaching at Tufts Dental School, I moved to south Florida with my wife Joanne and have been practicing in the Delray and Boynton Beach area ever since. Over the years, the advancements in aesthetic dentistry have been incredible. The technology has improved exponentially, and cosmetic dentistry has become my passion. With the materials available today, almost any smile makeover is possible. If you have any questions about cosmetic dentistry or would like to schedule a complimentary consultation, please feel free to contact us.
